With over 20 years experience in Human Resources and a specialist interest in psychology, Moonstir's owner Morag Ormiston has a long standing passion for developing people and organisations. Moonstir has capacity to design, build and restore businesses and individuals by creating bespoke solutions to meet specific need. Whether this be HR start up schemes for SME's, tailored wellbeing solutions to energise and engage the workforce or individual counselling or coaching sessions to support those with more focused need, Moonstir has the competence to meet all areas.

A Productive and Engaged Workforce
Moonstir believes that everyone has the right to physical, mental and social well-being, with options to learn, work, support themselves and their families to the best of their ability. We consider that work should therefore be a positive contributing factor to the economy allowing society to develop and individuals to be valued. Moonstir can support a range of options.
A Cognitive Behavioural Approach
Our psychotherapy services are customised to meet the specific needs of each client or group of clients. We work collaboratively throughout the entire counselling process to ensure client goals are met.
Throughout lockdown we have been providing our Counselling services to all clients via secure online video link or telephone. Whilst we will remain distanced for some time, there are some opportunities to meet in person.
A return to our consulting room has required some changes to our previous face-to face service. Our consulting room is large enough to be able to maintain physical distancing between client and therapist. Our priority remains to provide clients with a safe physical and safe psychological space to be with us but at the same time ensure effective therapeutic work. We will not require clients to wear face coverings, masks, or use perspex screens. All clients wanting to meet for face to face counselling will need to read and acknowledge our COVID procedure which will be emailed on request.
The Path to Self Management
As a resilience coaches, we focus on optimizing health and well-being through developing and sustaining positive mindsets. We help our clients enhance their self-motivation and self-regulation focusing on their strengths to navigate their journey of change, and building psychological resources. Whether this be one-off wellness meetings to review an individual's needs or a longer term review of unhelpful coping strategies, we can provide support to improve wellbeing through exercise, diet, sleep hygiene, maintaining social connections, and managing self care. We use cognitive behavioural tools to improve low mood and/or anxiety and stress such that resilience is developed and maintained.
What’s Being Said
Morag worked tirelessly with myself and my senior management team during a difficult period for the business brought about by the drop in the oil price globally. During this period I was forced to make reductions in headcount so it was a stressful time for both staff and the management team. She did an excellent job in managing this situation conducting her work with great empathy and understanding.

You have been selected to receive the CIPD Outstanding Contribution Award for branch volunteers for your work in the North Scotland branch. Having served at the branch for 15 years before recently standing down, your work and support for the branch has been exemplary. The group discussed relevant topics and offered vital help and advice to those who wanted to engage and discuss issues. Latterly, the group welcomed independent consultants and continued to provide support to those that attended. Feedback from the last two branch surveys cited the group as a valuable resource to our members. Your tremendous effort in keeping members engaged as well as your contribution in working towards meeting the branch objectives are greatly admired. As well as your support for branch activities and decisions, I’d like to recognise your efforts in championing the best interests of CIPD members and sharing your views with us making a thoughtful, positive and insightful contribution to our work. You have brought a wealth of HR experience and are a true ambassador for CIPD.
Outstanding Contribution Award CIPD
The Health and Wellbeing programme created allowed us to achieve our Healthy Working Lives Gold award very quickly. Our staff felt engaged and benefited greatly from the inclusive programme. There is a genuine willingness from employees and managers to take part and our management of absence and presenteeism, improved health awareness and increased commitment to our employees' physical and mental health is thanks to Moonstir's Director.
